netObserver
A
real-time network monitoring tool that would be developed to handle
configuration management. The function of this tool is to provide the network
engineer with up-to-date information that will allow them the ability to
diagnose and resolve network issues. The netObserver will contain
multiple displays of the network topology. It will allow the user the ability
to view the WAN/LAN down to the virtual circuit level. The netObserver has
another feature called auto-discovery, a process by which systems and
networks are automatically detected to
determine what exists on the network. For GenéSysTM netObserver, this means identifying devices
on the network; determining the type of the device, and how these devices are
interconnected and the services available on the device. Auto-Discovery is a valuable
component of any operations management solution as it reduces the time it takes
to network operators to configure network. It will reduce the provisioning and
troubleshooting efforts on a network or service.
Engineous
This
is the engine of the GenéSysTM
product suite and is where all the data is collated and distributed to the
application layers. The middleware is developed using java and C++ and will
include a API (e.g. CORBA and XML) for easy integration into the Operational
Support System (OSS) module.
